BACKGROUND

The one drop method SA Patent 2000/1928, 2002 0418 is a unique system of vehicle cleaning which makes the cleaning possible in locations where it would otherwise be impractical. The patented mobile system overcomes the limitations of all conventional systems.

The One Drop Method is based upon the principle that there is no better location for a car wash than very spot where vehicles must be, by necessity. The low start up costs and versatility of the system has made One Drop the fastest growing vehicle cleaning franchise in South Africa.

THE COMPANY

In February 2002 , 2 individuals Mr Abdul Latif Bennett and Mr Theos Vilikazi conceived the ONE –Drop method. They were looking for a small business opportunity, which could generate employment.

The 2 founders of the One –Drop method realized that the car washing industry was both stagnant and offered few alternatives to the wash bay cleaning method and the unprofessional bucket method.

They then consulted a friend MR M Mafokeng who was an engineering student at Wits University. He believed that he could come up with the most practical design for the One –Drop idea of MR A.L. Bennett. Mr Mafokeng and Mr Bennett designed the catch tray method and portable rinse unit, which was submitted to the industry for manufacturing. After some modifications they filed for patent protection. Intellectual property Registration: SA Patent Application 2000/1928.

The three individuals then consulted a prominent think tank and consulting firm, Bain &Company. The company was impressed with the ambition and good intentions of the One –Drop team and gave them the opportunity to perfect their method on its employees. One-Drop Car Care Systems went from 5 to 55 employees within one year and is currently employing 160 employees throughout the network.

The tremendous growth and success of this concept has proven that the One-drop Method can convert virtually any parking spot into a wash bay for professional cleaning. This is an idea that is growing with much success in the market place. The concept has rapidly spread and has become sought after by health clubs, malls, and most recently fleets.
